To Be or Not to Be…
“To be, or not to be, that is the question.” Those are some of the most famous words in literature. This was the beginning of Hamlet’s soliloquy, which was written by one of the most renowned writers in literary history, William Shakespeare. Shakespeare has been known as a poet and play writer, of such classics as Hamlet, MacBeth, As You Like It, Romeo and Juliet and many more.

Born in 1564, the Bard of Avon, as he was known, become one of the most influential people in literature. In fact, he is considered by many to be the greatest writers in English language literature. In addition to the many plays and poems that he wrote, he was also an innovator in the presentation of theater.

Shakespeare founded and created the Globe Theater which produced many of his plays. At the Globe they were innovators in the way plays were presented. Advances in costumes, makeup, and scenery made attending plays an event. Many of the same concepts of Shakespeare’s Globe Theater are still in effect today.
