Power Recline Versus a Manual Lever

A power theater recliner runs the back and footrest off a motor, so the seat stops anywhere you let go of the button instead of locking into the two or three positions a manual lever allows. That matters more than it sounds. A manual seat needs you to throw your weight back to open it and pull yourself forward to close it, which is exactly what you do not want with a drink in your hand halfway through a movie. Power also means the footrest and back can move independently on many frames, so you can sit upright with your legs out.

Octane Power Frames

The Turbo XL700 is the entry point and the most configured power frame we sell. The Flex HR, Grand HR and Dream HR collections sit a step up, and the Azure LHR anchors the top of the range. Some frames are offered in both power and manual, so check the mechanism filter rather than assuming: a model listed as power or manual recline sells as either. Octane Seating builds the bulk of this category, with Palliser, Fortress, Bass, Acoustic Innovations and Continental filling out the range.

Wiring, Clearance and Rows

Home theater recliners with power run on a standard household outlet, so plan one behind the row or add a rechargeable battery pack if the wall has none. A powered seat still needs recline clearance behind it, and if the wall is tight, wall huggers recline forward instead of back. Most frames configure as a single recliner, a loveseat or a full row, and many are offered on a built on riser or in a curved arrangement. Check the seating layout guide for row widths, or call 888.457.7328 and we will lay the room out with you.
